The Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian

2011

Gilded arrows (gold leaf, wood, metal, feathers), gold thread, adhesive
28 x 28 x 28 inches / 71 x 71 x 71 cm
The Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian is a sculpture made with twenty-seven gilded arrows joined together with gold thread to make a three-dimensional grid. Created in conjunction with Facial Expression Studies for the Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian, the sculpture references the famous marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, The Ecstasy of Saint Teressa (1647–52).
