Controlled Negation

Controlled Negation

2014-15

Three-colour silkscreen on paper, 100 x 70 cm (ed. 3)

Three-panel painting (acrylic on wood), 200 x 142 cm

Controlled Negation is a set of images based on underwear advertisements for men. The underwear, however, is absent, leaving nothing but fractured body parts that only become whole in the imagination. The results imply an objectification and aggression that are commonly associated with notions of masculinity.
