Project 4 - Instruction Paintings
Based on Yoko Ono’s Instruction Paintings (1961) printed in Braille, students will create their own instructions for making paintings. The project will investigate the stimulation of imagination through the use of language, explore the existence of “artworks” in what Kant describes as “the theatre of the imagination,” and emphasize the role of the audience/spectator in the creation of an artwork.
